Zenith Cronometro Tipo CP-2 "A. Cairelli"- 11.000€
The Zenith Cronometro Tipo CP-2 is one of the most iconic military chronographs of the 20th century, originally commissioned for the Italian armed forces. This timepiece, known for its precision, robustness, and legibility, has become a highly sought-after collector's item due to its rich history and limited production.
Designed according to Italian military specifications and delivered through the retailer A. Cairelli (in Rome), between 1968 and 1972, this watch is purpose-built for enhanced legibility. Rugged and highly functional, the timepiece stands out for its rotating bezel and luminescent Arabic hour numerals and hands. It comes equipped with Zenith’s 146 manual-winding chronograph calibre, originally developed by the Martel Workshops before being acquired by Zenith in 1959–1960.
The CP-2 feature a large 43 mm stainless steel case, a big crown, and pushers designed for ease of use even with gloves. Its black dial with luminous hands and Arabic numerals ensure excellent readability under various conditions. The bi-directional bezel allowed for additional timing functions, making it a versatile tool for military applications. Speaking of the bezel, it has developed a stunning light grey patina, almost "ghost," giving it an unmistakable vintage charm.
