Rolex Submariner Date Yellow Gold "Nipple Dial" - 47.000€
The Submariner Date 1680 is the reference that, for the first time, equipped Rolex’s flagship dive watch with a date function.
Although our model features a domed crystal similar to those found on the Submariner or Sea-Dweller, the 1680 reference is generally known for its tall and flat "Chimney" crystal, designed to allow the Cyclops lens to be affixed to it.
This reference, which emerged around 1969, was available in stainless steel as well as 18k yellow gold. The precious metal version was produced in significantly smaller numbers (5,765 pieces) compared to the stainless steel model (111,226 pieces) making this piece a very uncommon and rare reference. The model we present here dates from 1971 and features a stunning matte black dial, highlighted by the distinctive "nipple" hour markers (raised gold markers with a touch of tritium luminescent material at the top) giving the dial an exceptional brilliance. The dial also features the applied gold Rolex crown logo, further enhancing its luxurious appeal.
