Patek Philippe Nautilus "Moon Phases" - 99.000€

  • The Nautilus was introduced by Patek Philippe in 1976, during a time when luxury watches were traditionally dress watches made of precious metals. Inspired by the growing demand for high-end sports watches, Patek Philippe ventured into new territory with the Nautilus.

The Nautilus was designed by Gérald Genta, a legendary Swiss watch designer, who is also known for creating the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. The watch was named after the submarine from Jules Verne’s "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" and featured a unique porthole-inspired design.

The ref. 5712 was introduced in 2006 as part of the 30th-anniversary celebrations of the Nautilus collection. Alongside the iconic 5711, the 5712 offered a more complicated and distinctive take on the classic Nautilus design. Unlike the balanced and minimalist design of the 5711, the 5712's dial features an off-centered, asymmetrical arrangement of its complications, giving it a unique character.

Indeed, the dial, still featuring its signature horizontally embossed "Nautilus" pattern, displays an organized chaos of exceptional elegance: the moon phases, surrounded by the date indicated by a hand, as well as the power reserve indicator, and a small off-centered seconds subdial at 4 o’clock.

The Caliber 240 that equips this watch is an iconic movement by Patek Philippe, renowned for its thinness, technical refinement, and reliability. Introduced in 1977, it marked a significant milestone in the brand's history by setting a standard for ultra-thin automatic movements with complications. The Caliber 240 is equipped with an off-centered micro-rotor made of 22ct solid gold, and like all Patek Philippe creations, it is finished with an exceptional level of detail.

The model presented here dates from 2011 and comes with its original box, papers, and Patek Philippe service papers. Indeed, it has been serviced in their workshops and has not been worn since since.
