Omega Vintage Seamaster "Bullhead" - 11.000€
The Omega Bullhead is one of the most distinctive and unconventional chronographs ever produced by Omega. First introduced in 1969 as part of the Chronostop line, the Bullhead was originally designed for rally drivers and sports timing. Its name, “Bullhead,” comes from its unique case shape and crown configuration, with the crown and pushers positioned at the top of the case, resembling the head of a bull. The crown located at 6 o’clock allows to rotate the internal bezel, which is graduated for 60 minutes.
The Bullhead is powered by the manually-wound caliber 930, a modified version of the famous Omega 861 chronograph caliber: the hour counter has been removed and a date function has been added. Its layout featured a 12-hour dial with a date window at 3 o’clock, and sub-dials placed vertically for optimal readability while driving. The case is almost triangular when viewed from the side, angling the dial toward the wearer for better legibility on the wrist.
Despite its technical appeal and bold design, the Bullhead was not a commercial success at the time of its release. Its short production run and radical styling made it a niche choice, and it remained relatively obscure for decades. However, as vintage watch collecting gained popularity, the Bullhead's rarity and distinctive aesthetic turned it into a sought-after piece among collectors.
This particular model has been perfectly preserved, with a mint condition case and a beautiful dial patina.
