Omega Speedmaster Professional "Ultraman" - 37.000€
The Omega Speedmaster is arguably one of the most iconic chronographs of all time.
In 1957, Omega launched three new professional watches: the antimagnetic Railmaster watch, the Seamaster 300 dive watch and the Speedmaster chronograph.
The Speedmaster was initially intended, as its name suggests, to become a tool for timing car races. However, its destiny would decide somewhat differently, as it would be selected to become the official watch of NASA in 1965. As part of the development of the space program, Omega was one of four watch brands invited to send their watch to NASA. The chronographs were put to the test during demanding tests specially created by the space agency. Only one watch managed to pass all the tests and was therefore certified to be part of the equipment of all NASA manned and extravehicular space missions: the Omega Speedmaster.
July 21, 1969 is a very important day in history because the human being walks on the Moon for the first time. And every astronaut on this mission wears a Speedmaster on their wrist. The Speedmaster has well earned its nickname Moonwatch, which is now used officially.
Having appeared in the Japanese science fiction TV show “The Return of Ultraman” in 1971, this rare model is most notably distinguished by its orange seconds hand. The creator of the Ultraman series, Eiji Tsuburaya, was known for including interesting watches in his productions, and this very uncommon Speedmaster is no exception. It is unknown how many genuine pieces still exist, making this watch a true collector's piece.
