Longines Rectangular "Jumbo" 1920s - 4.000€

  • Longines is one of the most prestigious and historic watch brands in the world, with origins dating back to the early 19th century in Switzerland. The company was founded in 1832 in Saint-Imier by Auguste Agassiz, along with two partners.

Initially, it operated as a comptoir, a system where individual watchmakers worked independently and supplied completed parts to the business.

In 1866, under the leadership of Agassiz’s nephew, Ernest Francillon, Longines acquired land in an area called "Les Longines," meaning "long meadows" in French, near Saint-Imier. Francillon consolidated the watchmaking process under one roof, establishing the brand’s first factory and marking the beginning of industrialized watch production for Longines. The name "Longines" was derived from this location, and in 1889, the company registered its iconic winged hourglass logo, which remains the oldest registered trademark still in use in its original form in the watchmaking industry. Longines gained international acclaim for its precision and innovation during the late 19th century, particularly for its high-quality chronometers and timing instruments.

This exquisite timepiece we present here, with a design typical of the 1920s, features an 18k yellow gold case with double "steps" on the bezel. The stunning golden cream dial showcases elegant black Arabic numerals and Breguet hands, exuding unparalleled sophistication. A rectangular subdial houses the small seconds display.
Inside, it is powered by a manual-winding mechanical movement. This watch comes with a leather strap and is delivered with a 3-year warranty.
