Cartier Tank Reverso - SOLD
This Cartier Tank Reverso from the 1970s is a fascinating and rare watch that blends two iconic design languages into one. Produced in small numbers during this decade, it combines the unmistakable rectangular elegance of Cartier’s Tank with the reversible case concept pioneered by Jaeger-LeCoultre in the 1930s.
Its case is slim and elongated, with the clean, geometric lines typical of Cartier, while the reversible mechanism allows the wearer to flip the watch, protecting the dial or revealing a second face depending on the version. Most examples from the 1970s feature a classic silvered or white dial with Roman numerals, blued steel hands, and the signature sapphire cabochon on the crown. Inside, Cartier relied on a manual-winding calibre.
Elegant yet practical, the Tank Reverso of the 1970s remains a highly collectible vintage timepiece, appreciated both for its rarity and its unique hybrid identity within Cartier’s history.
