Cartier Ceinture Vintage - 6.000€
The Cartier Ceinture is a lesser-known but highly distinctive timepiece in Cartier’s storied watchmaking history. Originally designed around 1927, it has been relaunched in the 1970s. The name "Ceinture", French for "belt", reflects the inspiration behind the watch’s design: the form of a belt buckle. At a time when Cartier was exploring bold and unconventional shapes, the Ceinture stood out with its geometric elegance and refined proportions.
Unlike the more famous Tank or Santos models, the Ceinture featured a square case with softened, chamfered corners and a recessed crown integrated into the case's edge, enhancing its sleek appearance. Its most defining visual element was the case design that resembled a belt cinching around the wrist, a metaphor for elegance and restraint. The result was a watch that conveyed subtle sophistication with a touch of avant-garde creativity.
The model we present here features the iconic white dial with black Roman numerals and blued sword-shaped hands, creating a beautiful contrast with the 18k yellow gold case, which is engraved "Paris" on the caseback. The original deployant clasp is also crafted in 18k yellow gold.
