Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Calendar - 31.000€

  • While the first Royal Oak Offshore, reference 25721, made headlines with its oversized proportions (42mm in diameter and 14.05mm thick), models 25807 and its leather-strap variant 25808 marked a return to more era-appropriate dimensions, measuring 38mm in diameter and 12.05mm in height.

The Calibre 2127/2827, developed by Jaeger-LeCoultre (ref. 891/447) for Audemars Piguet, belongs to the family of 11½-ligne automatic movements, which also includes calibres 2123, 2124, and 2125. As a nod to the legendary 5516 model from 1955, the peripheral date display indicated by a central hand complements the day and month apertures positioned at 2 o’clock and 10 o’clock.

These three calendar indications classify the 25807 and 25808 as “triple calendar” or “complete calendar” watches. However, it is worth noting that some purists reserve the latter term for watches that also feature a moonphase. In this case, the Royal Oak Offshore omits the moonphase, likely a design choice by Emmanuel Gueit, who opted instead to include a small seconds counter to maintain a sportier aesthetic.

The reference 25808 was produced in 604 examples in stainless steel and only 76 in yellow gold. While technical records confirm the existence of a white gold version, our research has not found any trace of it in the sales archives.

This model is therefore a very rare timepiece, and a particularly desirable example as it comes in excellent condition, complete with its original box and papers.
