Audemars Piguet Royal Oak "Jumbo" - 58.000€

  • The Royal Oak is one of the most famous watchmaking icons whose stories have become myths.

Designed overnight by Gérald Genta and unveiled in 1972 at the Basel Fair after two years of bold development, the Royal Oak shattered every convention. It elevated stainless steel to the realm of fine watchmaking and gave birth to the era of casual chic—blending sportiness with high horology in a way no one dared before. By 1977, precious metals followed, but the original steel "Jumbo" remained the purest form of Genta’s disruptive genius.

This example, dating circa 1975 (serial B1625), belongs to the revered early batch of ref. 5402ST. Crafted entirely in stainless steel, it features the legendary 39 mm case, wafer-thin profile, and the unmistakable octagonal bezel with exposed screws—every angle and chamfer preserved with stunning sharpness.

Its dial is the heart of the charm: a rare "Bleu nuit, Nuage 50" Petite Tapisserie, whose subtle, starry tone shifts with the light.

Beating inside is the ultra-slim, self-winding Caliber 2121, a movement so refined it allowed the Royal Oak to retain its radical proportions without compromising on mechanical excellence.

No box, no papers—just the unmistakable presence of a true icon, backed by a 36-month guarantee. This isn’t just a watch—it’s the blueprint of modern horology, still as sharp, daring, and relevant as the day it was born.
